Local Seniors twirl into New Year
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ)--Some Senior Citizens are kicking off New Year's weekend with a bang.
Dozens came together at the Grand Forks Senior Center dressed in festive clothing, enjoying Chuck Gust and Sharon Myron on the accordion.
Many said their favorite part was, of course, the dancing.
“It’s so much fun, because you can come here and you can make new friends, and you can dance with people who don’t get the chance to dance, and you can make everyone happy! I love it,” said party guest, Betty Bartolomei.
Organizers say seeing everyone come together on the dance floor is a perfect way to twirl into the New Year.
“It’s really rewarding to see the joy and the happiness when the seniors come together and are having a good time like this--how much joy it brings into their lives,” said Public Relations manager, Jami Schumacher.
Now this isn’t all that unusual--every Friday, seniors at the center dance as a part of their “Fantastic Friday” theme.
