CVIC Receives 3 million dollar grant
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ)--A huge step in ending violence in our community.
With a 3 million dollar grant, the Community Violence Intervention Center is now able to focus a portion of its budget on new therapy for adults and children, plus early education, partnering with area schools across Grand Forks county to teach them about violence prevention.
CVIC members say they currently use their budget to deal with helping people already in crisis, so this money, could be a game changer.
"What this gift allows us to do is then to push beyond that and really look at solving the problem of violence. So it allows us the resources that we need to really push those prevention efforts, which so often get put on the backburner,” said CVIC President, Kristi Hall-Jiran.
The grant was donated by the Engelstad Family Foundation.
