Devils Lake voters to vote on various issues
DEVILS LAKE, ND (WDAZ)--People in Devils Lake are headed to the polls on Tuesday to vote on three issues.
Three candidates are running for a city commission seat.
Voters will decide whether or not to approve funding for infrastructure, and you’ll get the chance to vote on a nearly 23 million dollar recreation center.
People will vote yes or no to approve a half-cent sales tax increase to fund the facility.
The recreation center will feature amenities like a pool, golf simulator, indoor playground and daycare.
Local people say it could be a good place for families to go.
However, one man who owns a gym in town says the city would be using tax money to compete with five businesses in the area.
“They would need to basically shut down the entire private fitness industry to make this facility successful,” said Joe Gleason, of Lake Region Fitness.
You can vote tomorrow at the Memorial Building from 8 am to 7 pm.
You will need to live within city limits and bring an ID in order to vote.
