2-vehicle crash on I-94 near Valley City results in $33,000 in damages
Valley City, ND (WDAY TV) - A two-vehicle accident on Interstate 94 nine miles east of Valley City near Oriska resulted in a total of more than $33,000 in damages according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The NDHP reported a 2014 Toyota Tundra driven by Jordan Wanzek, 28, of Jamestown; rear ended a 1998 Dodge Durango driven by Linda Sorensen, 65, of Pillsbury, N.D. at 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
According to the NDHP report, Wanzek was driving westbound at approximately 75 mph when he was distracted by a water bottle that fell on floor of the vehicle. He braked prior to rear-ending the Dodge, which was travelling at 65 mph. The Toyota entered the north ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest on its right side in shallow water. The Dodge crossed the median and came to rest on the eastbound lanes.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City, treated and released.
The Dodge had approximately $3,000 in damage to the rear end, and the Toyota had extensive damage estimated at $30,000 by the NDHP.
