Authorities identify man who died in fiery crash on Interstate 29 south of Grand Forks

AAA expects busiest travel weekend since 2005

Fueling up for memorial day travel

AAA expects the upcoming Memorial Day weekend to be the busiest travel weekend since 2005, and those filling up in Grand Forks can enjoy filling up for 80 cents per gallon less than this time last year.

More than 36 million Americans will journey at least 50 miles from home this weekend, according to a AAA spokesman. With that increase in travel, the group is urging caution on the roads.

"The roads are going to be busy, so keep your mind on the road, keep your attention focused. And watch out for mistakes that other people are making, because unfortunately these long weekends we usually see some people, killed or injured in traffic crashes," said North Dakota AAA spokesman Gene Ladoucer.

But no matter where you're headed this weekend it's hard to deny that this weather is a great way to kick off the summer travel season.
