Grand Forks resident Gary Riggle comforts his two dogs Angel, a Newfoundland, and Xena, a Saint Bernard, while the latter gets washed by Circle of Friends Humane Society caretaker Kylie Hudzik during the Beauty's Bubbles Doggy Splash and Car Wash Thursday in Grand Forks. The event was offered as a free-will donation event and allowed visitors to have their cars and canines alike washed at the same time. Arlette Moen, executive director at Circle of Friends, was excited about the turn out and hopes to have more fund raising events like the car wash in the future.

"We thought it would be a fun thing to raise awareness for the dogs," Arlette said. "Especially for Beauty." Beauty, a pit bull mix, is the dog for which the event is named after in an attempt to find her a new home. "She's been here for several months," Arlette said. For more information about adopting an animal or volunteer opportunities visit www.gfpets.com.
