Crystal Schneider and Jeannie Schultz Mock sworn in as Grand Forks City Council members
Grand Forks officially has two new city council members.
Crystal Schneider from ward 2 seat and Jeannie Schultz Mock from ward 4 were sworn in Tuesday night.
Both say they hope to tackle the issues suchs as affordable housing for families, managing the growth of the city and property taxes. Schneider and Mock are the first women to serve one the Grand Forks city council since 2006 and hope to bring a fresh perspective to the council.
Grand Forks City Council Ward 2 Winner Crystal Schneider said, "Some very experience people up on the council already so I'm hoping to get to know them and learn a lot from them through this process."
Grand Forks City Council Ward 4 Winner Jeannie Schultz Mock said, "Learning from them and working through the big issues we have here in Grand Forks. And just trying to make it a great place to call home."
This was also the last night as council men Tyrone Grandastrand and Hal Gershman. Both were honored with plaques for their years of service to Grand Forks. Neither ran for re-election.
Gershman has served on the council for 14-years.
