Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch hosts Heading Home celebration
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch opened up to the public for tours today, in celebration of its 2nd anniversary on a new campus in south Fargo.
The celebration, called Heading Home, is being held to raise support for the ranch and its mission.
Ranch staff hoped the tours would help dispel rumors that the children living on the ranch all have a history of juvenile delinquency.
The ranch is also celebrating a $600,000 gift from a California woman trying to help the facility grow.
Carla Isom/Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch Marketing and PR Director: "If the community will come out and see where the children live before they're heading home I think they would be less scared about the children at the ranch and just have a new appreciation for what this agency does for the children and the community."
Thursday night, the ranch will also host a free dinner at the Holiday Inn, starting at 5:30.
Funds raised from donations will go toward building a chapel, gymnasium and nutrition center on the campus.
