East leads West in 11 man Shrine Game
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - For 127 young men tonight is the final time they'll take the field as high school football players, it's a big moment, that's why we're broadcasting it live on state-wide television, on WDAY 6-3 and WDAZ 8-3, along with KBMY and KMCY's dash-3 channels and streaming it online at WDAY.com.
It's the North Dakota Shrine Bowl.
Featuring the East versus the West, the 11-man game is underway at the Fargodome.
The East drives down early, but the West stands tall at the goal-line on 4th and a yard, there's your proof that these kids care about an all-star game.
And here's more proof, next play, the East flies through and Red River's Jake Robson gets a hand in the tackle for a safety and 2 points.
So, the East goes up early. But, the West takes the lead in the 2nd, Lake Park-Audubon's Mason Swegarden, the Minnesota kid, finds Rugby's Chris Hamilton in the endzone to make it 7-2 West.
The West defense was strong too, led by Bismarck standout Stanley Jones, who makes a huge tackle for a loss. Jones looking good on his future home turf.
Then just before the half, Swegarden does it again through the air, this time finding Minot's Josh Pizzo, who shows off his juggling skills on this touchdown catch, it's 14-2 West just before the half.
