Fargodome readies for McCartney mania
FARGO – It may be a “Long and Winding Road” to the Fargodome for tonight’s Paul McCartney show, but officials say, “We Can Work it Out.”
Dome employees released a traffic advisory with some traffic suggestions due to construction on 19th Avenue North.
Drivers should expect delays, carpool if possible and plan to arrive early. The parking lots open at 4 p.m., the doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 8 p.m. There is no opener.
Eastbound traffic on 19th Avenue is closed at 18th Street. Traffic controllers will be at the intersection to direct traffic south to 17th Avenue.
If driving north on 10th Street or Broadway, take 17th Avenue. Traffic controllers will be at the intersection of 17th Avenue and University Drive to direct before and after the concert.
Concertgoers coming from the north should take County Road 20 to University Drive and head south.
Drivers coming from the south on Interstate 29 are encouraged to take the 12th Avenue exit east to 18th Street and head north to 17th Avenue.
In addition to parking at the Fargodome, officials suggest parking on NDSU’s campus in the lots near Newman Outdoor Field, at Fargo North High School and the John E. Carlson Coliseum.
A number of bars are offering shuttle service to the concert, but as of Friday afternoon, many were sold out. O’Kelly’s, 3800 Main Ave., Fargo, still had room on its five buses. The roundtrip ride is $10, and includes a free drink upon return. (701) 277-1880.
Buses will drop off on the west side of the Fargodome using Albrecht Avenue, where they will be parked for post-show pickup.
Limousine and other drop-offs will be at the main entrance on the east side of the Fargodome.
The release warned drivers to be aware of a high amount of pedestrian traffic around the Fargodome.
Rob Sobolik, general manager at the Fargodome, said tickets for the concert were available in all price ranges, from $23.50 to $250.
