Grand Forks police to get body cameras
Officers with the Grand Forks Police Department will soon be wearing body cameras.
Monday night, the Grand Forks City Council voted to approve the purchase of the cameras.
Since February, the department has used 6 cameras attached to officers.
Grand forks police now have permission to buy 52 more cameras.
A federal grant will cover the cost, which is about $830 for each.
Officials say it provides accountability for officers as they make traffic stops or interview witnesses.
