“The continued investments in North Dakota’s aviation infrastructure are important steps toward helping our state grow and expand,” said Heitkamp. “Our state has seen tremendous growth, and our airports need to be able to keep up. Routine maintenance is critical to our airports’ long-term success, but it is often difficult for smaller airports to find the funds necessary to do so. The most recent federal funds will help make sure North Dakota’s airports are up-to-date, safe and able to meet the growing demand.”

The grants are distributed as follows:

  • ·         Walhalla Municipal Airport – $1,199,789. The funds will be used to rehabilitate the existing apron, runway and taxiway.
  • ·         Harvey Municipal Airport – $45,795. The funds will be used to rehabilitate the existing apron, runway and taxiway.
  • ·         Casselton Robert Miller Regional -- $150,000. The funds will be used to rehabilitate the existing apron, runway and taxiway.

  • ·         Cando Municipal Airport - $486,000. The funds will be used to construct a 9,500 square foot hanger building.
  • ·         Hector International Airport - $450,000. These funds will be used to update the Airport Master Plan narrative report and Airport Layout Plan to address key issues, objectives and goals pertinent to the airport’s future development.
