Highway Patrol ID's man killed in crash near Rugby, N.D.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a Bottineau, N.D., man who died when his car collided with the back of a food truck on Highway 3 about 11 miles north of Rugby, N.D., in Pierce County Wednesday morning.

Seth Nelson, 20, was driving his 2003 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Highway 3 behind a food truck driven by Darek Falcon, 34 of Belcourt, at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, a Highway Patrol press release indicated.

The food truck was slowing down to turn into a customer's home just over a hill. The Impala struck the right rear of the truck, spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing southwest before catching on fire, according to the release.

The Rugby Rural Fire Department extinguished the fire, and medical personnel pronounced Nelson dead at the scene, the release indicated.Falcon was transported to the Heart of America Hospital in Rugby to treat his injuries, according to the release. The crash remains under investigation by the state Highway Patrol.
