Hundreds Turn Out to Raise More Than $17K for GF Girl With Brain Cancer
GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Hundreds of people in the community showed up to a benefit tonight to support 8-year-old Aspen Moreland who was diagnosed with brain cancer in March.
Supporters wore pink shirts that said "Team Aspen" at the Blue Line Club Arena. There was more than 150 silent auction items and businesses like Deek's Pizza, the Mattress Factory, and UND Athletics donated.
Aspen and her family travel back and forth from the Mayo Clinic to Grand Forks every week. The money raised will go to those medical and travel expenses.
"This community is so wonderful and I think these events just show us how amazing this community is. We have so much support from Aspen's family and friends. We have people in the community who don't even know Aspen who have showed up tonight to support," family friend Jane Loscheider said.
More than $17,000 was raised Tuesday night.
