ND has lowest rate, past due debt survey
ND (WDAY TV) - North Dakota has bragging rights, sort of, when it comes to past-due debt.
While one in three Americans has past-due debt that has been turned over to a collection agency, the state of North Dakota fared best.
In fact, the Dakotas and Minnesota topped the nationwide list: 19.2%. Nevada: 47%.
Southern states did the worst.
The Urban Institute reports that 35% of Americans with a credit file have debt in collection right now.
Despite the lowest rate in the country, credit counselors say North Dakotans still should be looking at their bottom line.
