NDSU looking to redshirt Tyler Wrice to replace Ryan Smith
Grand Forks ND 2220 South Washington

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Spring practice is now a week old for the NDSU Bison, and they continue to try and fill the holes left behind by 24 seniors.

One of those spots they are trying to replace is the void left by Ryan Smith.

The guy the Bison may be turning to is Redshirt Freshman Tyler Wrice.

The Nebraska native has started turning heads during the spring, with similar skills sets to the former Wahpeton standout.

Smith scored 10 touchdowns over his 4 years, and while it might be a big roll to fill, Wrice says he's ready to go.

Tyler Wrice/Bison Redshirt Freshman Receiver: "I actually look up to him a lot, he's a role model, and I try to tailor my game around his. He just works hard and I'm trying to get to that level where I just work hard every play and show effort every single play. My style of play is I like to be quick with my feet and beat people with my hips cause I got real quick hips and quick feet cause I got a small stature so I have to use my speed and quickness to my advantage."
