New Scheels location enjoys busy opening weekend
Managers of the new Grand Forks Scheel's store says they had a great opening weekend, with thousands of people shopping in the store in just its first hour.
The store is three times bigger than the old Grand Forks store.
Even though store officials are tight lipped about the amount of sales this weekend, they say they're extremely happy with the turnout.
Officials say Saturday was their busiest day so far with their Grand opening last weekend.
With Tuesday being Canada Day, managers say they've seen a lot of our neighbors to the north using their holiday to shop in the store.
Officials say they're excited that the new store is drawing new customers.
Grand Forks Scheels Store Manager Jason Heintz said, "obviously the first weekend we've had a lot of new customers that have never been our store before so hopefully they come back because of our customer service."
The new store features larger departments, a miniature bowling alley, a deli, and sport simulators.
The new store also created more full and part time jobs, store officials say 100 new jobs in all.
