Oil Spill Affects Slough Near Westhope
BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) received a report of a spill impacting a slough six miles southeast of Westhope. The spill occurred at a site owned by Enduro Operating as a result of a broken pipe at the wellhead.
Three barrels of oil were released, along with a small amount of brine. The company estimates that two barrels of oil have been recovered by vacuum truck. Absorbent booms were placed around the spill to keep if from spreading. Affected soil will be removed from the site and the remaining oil will be burned off with approval of NDDoH staff. Both Oil & Gas and NDDoH personnel are on scene to assist with clean up and remediation.
