People in Grand Forks Braved the Chill to Fight ALS
Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- People in Grand Forks are teaming up to fight ALS.
Nearly 250 people braved the chill in the air this morning to walk two miles around university park to raise money and awareness for ALS. It's more commonly known as lou gehrigs disease. It takes over people's central nervous system and often leads to paralysis.
Miss North Dakota International, Erica Lemna, was on hand to give a speech for the opening ceremony. Organizers say the walk is a true testament to the power of unity.
Linda Lorentzen with the ALS Association says, "it's just very inspiring for us at the chapter that people raise money to help other people that they will never know, but who are trying to deal with ALS."
The walk was expected to raise 25,000 dollars
