Riverfest kicks off in Drayton
The sixteenth annual Riverfest is underway in Drayton. The festival started Thursday and the fun continued Friday with a sidewalk sale and a meet and greet with author Lauraine Snelling. Drayton residents say the great thing about Riverfest is the story behind its start.
Rob Boll: "Started it right after the flood of ninety seven. We had a celebration to thank everyone for helping save Drayton from the flood. And then the year after that we started calling it Riverfest."
The festival runs through the weekend and ends Monday. Some of Saturday's highlights include a grand parade on Main Street and games in the park for kids. There is also street dance and fireworks extravaganza. For more information click here.
