The White House rejects a house republican proposal
Tuesday morning the white house rejected the house republicans proposal to end the shutdown and revisions to Obamacare. A white house spokeswoman said president Obama has said repeatedly that members of congress don't get to demand ransom for fulfilling their basic responsibilities to pass a budget and pay the nation's bills, this is according to CNN.
If the congress can't come to an agreement on the shutdown, then they're facing the threat of exceeding the debt ceiling deadline. If this is passed then the government would lose all of it's borrowing power and exhaust the treasury's current funds. North Dakota lawmakers say they aren't worried about it coming to a default, and despite differences, a compromise will have to be met.
Representative Kevin Cramer said, "well there's a lot of work to be done but we're going to have to come to an agreement because the clock is ticking and none of us wants to test -- I shouldn't say none of us -- most of us don't want to test the ramifications of reaching the debt ceiling limit."
The US has defaulted at least twice, this according to the associated press.
