The two people injured in a deadly home explosion continue to recover at a Nebraska hospital. Justin McMahan and Danielle Bissel were severely injured June 27 when a propane leak was ignited at their home north of Larimore, ND.
Justin is preparing to go into his 14th surgery on his legs on Wednesday. His right leg has healed well but his left leg has been causing him problems. If all goes well, the hope is he will be released from the hospital in three weeks, according to family members.
Danielle Bissel was released from the hospital and moved to a long-term rehab facility in Nebraska to be near family. There are still a lot of pins and plates in her right foot and she still has the neck collar on.
The plan is for Justin and Dani to live in Justin's mother's home until they can live independently.
Donations are still being accepted for Justin and Dani. Family members say they're needed to help the couple rebuild their life, pay medical bills, and to help make Justin's mother's home handicap-accessible for the two. Their 6-month-old daughter, Samantha, was killed in the explosion.
Friends of the couple also want to nominate them for Extreme Makeover Home Edition and they need your help. Go to their facebook page for more information on how to nominate the couple.
Donations are still being accepted through their Paypal account.
Donations can also be sent to the Bissell and McMahan account at Riverfork Federal Credit Union in Grand Forks.
There will be a bake sale on August 18th and 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Choice Financial in Grafton. Employees are baking and pricing baked goods with proceeds going to Justin and Dani. Supporters may either buy baked goods or bring baked goods to be sold. There will be a petition ballot to sign to nominate Justin and Dani for Extreme Makeover Home Edition. There will be a free-will offering as well.
There will be a memorial ride and stunt show for Justin, Dani, and their baby Samantha. A Kansas City stunt rider will be performing a stunt show with a local Grand Forks stunt team, Balance Theory. The show will be at Revolutions Powersports in Grand Forks. The show be a free-will donation and is set for August 20. Show times start at noon and 2:00 p.m.
Following the show, there will be a memorial ride for Samanatha. The cost will be $15.00 per person. The ride will leave Revolutions and go to the Tumbleweed Bar in Larimore and end at El Roco.
