Sioux rally to tie Badgers
Kristo's 3rd-period goal forces overtime
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota freshman Danny Kristo scored a power-play goal in the third period as the Fighting Sioux skated to a 3-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association tie with Wisconsin.
Kristo is the leading freshman scorer in the WCHA. He also had an assist for the third-ranked Sioux (9-5-3, 6-5-2).
The Badgers chased North Dakota goalie Brad Eidsness after taking a 3-1 lead on just 13 shots on goal. Craig Smith, Blake Geoffrion and Andy Bohmbach scored for the Badgers (10-5-2, 7-4-2).
Aaron Dell took over in net for UND and made nine saves.
Brad Malone scored UND's first goal early in the second period. Ben Blood added a power-play goal at 9:35 of the second and it stayed that way until Kristo scored on the power play at 10:14 of the third.
Scott Gudmundson had 27 saves for Wisconsin.
