Average ACT Scores in Dakotas Are Mixed

North Dakota's average student score on the ACT college entrance exam is slightly lower than the national average, while South Dakota's score is slightly above.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's average student score on the ACT college entrance exam is slightly lower than the national average, while South Dakota's score is slightly above.

The national average score is 21.1, on a scale of 1 to 36. North Dakota's average score is 20.7 and South Dakota's is 21.8.

Eighty-one percent of 2011 high school graduates in South Dakota and 98 percent of North Dakota graduates took the test, compared with 49 percent of graduates nationwide.
