Bemidji Nurses Start Informational Picket

Nurses at Sanford Bemidji started hitting the picket lines Wednesday after stalled contract negotiations with their employer.

BEMIDJI, MN - Nurses at Sanford Bemidji started hitting the picket lines Wednesday after stalled contract negotiations with their employer.

It was the first day of the informational picket, ten days after the Minnesota Nurses Association delivered the required notice.

Chairman Peter Danielson says nurses are picketing because Sanford Bemidji couldn't get back to the negotiation table until next month.

Danielson says the previous contract offered to nurses lacked safe staffing language and cut benefits.

Sanford Bemidji COO Joy Johnson says the hospital does have safe staffing, and is committed to resolving this and providing the best patient care.
