BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The NCAA's website is still offering merchandise with the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname and American Indian head logo — two days after they were supposed to have been retired.

NCAA spokesman Erik Christianson says items with the nickname and logo have been, or will be, removed from the website.

Late Wednesday, a customer could still use the website to buy shirts with the Sioux nickname, a gym bag with the nickname and logo and other Fighting Sioux items.

The NCAA considers the nickname and logo offensive to American Indians. In an October 2007 lawsuit settlement over the issue, the association said UND had to drop the nickname and logo by last Monday to avoid penalties.

UND now expects to retire the logo and nickname by year's end.
