City-wide mosquito spraying is scheduled for tonight in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks starting at 8 p.m. and wrapping up at about midnight.
Trucks will travel through the cities at about 10 mph with a yellow flashing light. If you're sensitive to chemicals, you may want to stay inside for about 20 minutes or until the aerosol cloud dissipates. You shouldn't run, walk or bike through the cloud.
The cities are seeing an increase in Culex tarsalis mosquitoes, the most common form for transmitting West Nile virus.
Most people infected with the virus don't see symptoms until one to two weeks. Symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, skin rash and swollen lymph nodes.
There have been two reported human infections in North Dakota so far this year, neither of them fatal.
If winds reach higher than 10 mph, spraying may be rescheduled.
