Jamestown College wrestling coach Cisco Cole said Thursday he is resigning from his job.
Cole, 34, was reinstated recently after being suspended after an incident at his home where he discharged a firearm.
He was arrested July 26 after the report of a domestic altercation between Cole and his wife. The couple had been in a verbal dispute when he allegedly picked up a .30-caliber rifle and fired it while in the basement, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
No one was injured, Police Chief Dave Donegan.
Cole pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.
Judge John T. Paulson ordered Cole to pay $125 criminal administration fee, $100 defense/facility administration fee and $25 victim-witness fee. Cole was given one year deferred imposition. He is to obtain an evaluation and complete recommended treatment. He is not to possess or own firearms for a year.
If he pays his fines, completes his treatment and has no additional offenses, Cole may also apply for record expungement, meaning the charges can be removed from his public record.
Cole has been the head coach for the Jimmie men’s wrestling program since 2007. He’s also the head coach of the women’s program, which started in the 2008-09 season.
