KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Two Leavenworth men have been charged in an incident during a Sporting Kansas City soccer match in which the Kansas City goalkeeper was hit in the face with a bobblehead doll thrown from the stands.
Cody Wente was charged Friday in Wyandotte County District Court with felony aggravated battery and was being held on $10,000 bond. The 23-year-old is accused of throwing an Omar Bravo bobblehead that hit goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen just under his left eye in Wednesday night's game against Portland.
On Thursday, 21-year-old Robert Hauver was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and released from jail.
The Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office says it doesn't appear Wente has hired an attorney.
Nielsen was examined by medical personnel and continued to play in Sporting KC's 3-1 win.
