In East Grand Forks, Sen. Franken Visits Locked-out ACS Workers

Minnesota Senator Al Franken stopped in East Grand Forks on Saturday to hear from union workers. Union members of American Crystal Sugar invited Franken to meet with them.

EAST GRAND FORKS - Minnesota Senator Al Franken stopped in East Grand Forks on Saturday to hear from union workers.

Union members of American Crystal Sugar invited Franken to meet with them. In a closed meeting, they expressed concerns about health insurance, finances and negotiations. The lockout is in its third week and Franken is urges that it needs to end.

“The growers and management and have worked together hand in glove for a long time and this is unprecedented, this kind of lockout and I'd like it to end as soon as possible,” Franken said.

Workers want negotiations to be back on the table.
