MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police say a boy who was found dead in the street was an apparent victim of homicide.

Officers and paramedics found the boy's body shortly after being called about 11 p.m., Sgt. Steve McCarty said in a statement. The officers went to the 1700 block of Morgan Avenue N. after receiving a call about "numerous shots fired and a male lying in the street," McCarty said.

The boy's name has not been released.

The police department says it has no suspects in custody, and is asking that anyone with information call them at 612-692-8477.

Saturday night's shooting is the fourth homicide of the year in the 4th precinct and 18th homicide citywide.

At this time last year, there were 33 homicides in Minneapolis and 19 in the 4th precinct alone.
