GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - When Joey Bradley makes his Sioux debut next week, he will make it as UND's starting quarterback.
The junior college transfer gets the call to start in Thursday's season opener against Drake while senior Brent Goska will be the backup QB.
Last year in California, Bradley passed for 3,600 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Coach Chris Mussman says Bradley gained the edge in fall camp.
"Joey's had a better completion percentage. The ball's been in the right spot, he's made better decisions up to this point. We seem to click a little bit when he's in there," Mussman said. "What it has done is made us better. The competition makes you better. Brent is a much better quarterback today than he was at the end of last season, but we feel going into Drake, I think Joey Bradley is the guy that we need to have on the field.
Goska started three games at quarterback last year as a junior and Mussman says Goska will play in some capacity possibly even as a tight-end.
UND's season opener will be televised on the Fighting Sioux Sports Network and Fox College Sports, Sept. 1 at 7:00 P.M.
