DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — St. Luke's hospital in Duluth evacuated some staff and implemented its emergency plan after a fire Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to an automatic firm alarm at the hospital just after 9:30 a.m. and found flames coming from an exterior roof structure near a hospital entrance.

The Duluth News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/pdkcA2 ) fire companies worked to get to the hidden fire before it could get inside the building. The fire was stopped before it could get inside, but there was smoke inside the building. That prompted the hospital to evacuate staff from the smoky area while firefighters ventilated the building.

No injuries are reported. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The Duluth fire marshal's office is investigating. No patients were evacuated.
