A South Dakota state lawmaker is using the Facebook social network to nudge North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven into a U.S. Senate race.
State Rep. Dan Lederman helped to start a page to draft the Republican governor into a race against incumbent Democratic Sen. Byron Dorgan.
A number of North Dakota Republican officials have already signed on, including Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and state party Chairman Gary Emineth.
Lederman represents a district in South Dakota's southeastern corner. He and his three brothers run a bail bond agency with offices in North Dakota, South Dakota and seven other states.
Lederman says he's never met Hoeven. A Hoeven spokesman says the governor hasn't decided whether he'll run against Dorgan.
