FORBES, N.D. (AP) — A farmer in North Dakota died when a trench he was digging gave way and trapped him.
Dickey County Sheriff Jim Bohannon tells The Jamestown Sun (http://bit.ly/pchDqR ) that 43-year-old Kurt Olson, of Forbes, was digging a trench to add a water line for cattle Tuesday when it gave way.
Bohannon said it's not clear whether Olson was in the trench or on top of it when it covered him with dirt.
Family found him on the farm about two miles east of Forbes and reported it to officials around 6:45 p.m. Olson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bohannon said he's unsure how much time had passed between the collapse and when Olson's body was found. No one was with him at the time.
