The Devils Lake Regional Airport is working to make the airport safer, and it's now getting the money it needs to make these improvements. A House-Senate conference committee forged a final agreement on an appropriations bill that includes almost half a million dollars in funding for the airport. It will be getting the money through the FAA as it needs it. The airport is working on extending the main runway to 6400 feet and adding high-intensity lighting.
John Nord: "That'll allow for larger planes to land here at Devils Lake. Plus the re-surfacing-all runways need to be re-surfaced at one point or another, and our runway was definitely due."
The project could be done in late 2011.
