GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - As the tenth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks approaches, security is being ramped up at the Grand Forks International Airport.
This week and throughout the weekend, the airport is taking extra precautionary measures.
Although they can't fully disclose all the measures they are taking, there are a few things you may notice if you are traveling.
A full staff of security both in uniform and undercover will be around the airport looking for anything suspicious.
This is just a precautionary measure and security wants passengers to feel safe if they are traveling over the weekend.
"At this point in time obviously with 9-11 we are looking at other items for security, more of a heightened awareness for everybody involved. For staff and employees and people that are working the airport environment," GFK operations and maintenance manager Richard Augette said.
Passengers won't notice any difference checking into the airport even with the extra enforcement.
