CROOKSTON, MN (WDAZ-TV) - Firefighters responded to a blaze at the American Crystal Sugar plant in Crookston shortly before 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

The fire started on the roof of the building toward the center, on the west side. Hot ash from inside a chimney got onto the roof, apparently causing the blaze.

It took 13 firefighters about an hour to put the fire out.

The Crookston Fire Department called the fire "minor."

This is the third fire at American Crystal plants in the past 48 hours. Drayton and East Grand Forks both experienced fires in their pulp dryers.
