BISMARCK (WDAZ-TV) - A Mandaree, ND, man was sentenced Monday on two counts of assaulting and resisting a federal officer.
According to a release from U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon, James Yellow Wolf, 41, was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release.
Yellow Wolf pleaded guilty to the charges in June.
Yellow Wolf appeared in Fort Berthold Tribal Court in New Town, ND, on March 10 for an arraignment on local charges.
He was escorted to the court appearance by corrections officers, but became upset during the appearance and demanded to be returned to jail.
When the officers intervened, Yellow Wolf pushed one of them, who fell to the floor. Yellow Wolf wrestled with the officers on the flood until he was secured.
