DEVILS LAKE (WDAZ-TV) - The likelihood of Devils Lake reaching the crucial elevation of 1458 feet has gone down, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The chances of Devils Lake reaching 1458 next year is down to two percent.

The USGS updated the probability based on information they had on September 14. A new chart shows a ten percent chance that the lake will rise three feet next year.

The predictions take into consideration the fact that next year the state plans to have both the west-end and east-end outlet running, but some local officials wonder how much water the outlets will be able to take off next year.
