This week construction workers turned the new wind farm north of Rugby over to Iberdrola Renewables, as it is now operational. There are 71 turbines in all, and each tower is about 300 feet tall. The blades are about 140 feet long. The turbines are made by a company called Suzelon, and they are bigger than those in other wind farms. The wind farm is capable of producing 149 megawatts of power, which is enough to power about 11,000 homes. The wind farm will provide 3 jobs through Iberdrola Renewables.

Neal Dewitz/Plant Manager: "The turbine provider, which is Suzelon, they're also based in this building under us, they have ten technicians, a service manager, and a lead technician along with their office coordinator."

There will be a dedication ceremony at the wind farm this spring.
