GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Three UND ROTC cadets are excited about a unique honor as they are considered among the best in the nation.

The U.S. Army Cadet Command ranks more than 5,600 senior cadets across the nation.

Andrew Petefish was ranked third, along with Daniel Barbian and Jason Anderson who both ranked in the top 70.

The cadets are ranked according to several categories including academics and physical fitness tests.

"It encompasses all three years and the beginning stages, so as long as you have good grades, you just have to keep up on the homework and keep striving for everything you can do in ROTC," senior Jason Anderson said.

"I knew that I did well but I didn't know that I'd be that well, like I really had no idea so it's quite an accomplishment," senior Andrew Petefish said.

Seven UND cadets are ranked in the top 1,000.
