SOUTH OF LAKOTA, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Nelson County Sheriff Kelly Janke says Grand Forks SWAT team operations in the county were not related to the family involved in a months-long standoff south of Lakota, ND.
Multiple sources told WDAZ that the SWAT team was called to the Brossart farmstead Thursday evening, but a WDAZ crew found the home a few miles south of Lakota to be quiet, with a few lights on at about 9:30 p.m.
Sheriff Janke says his officers were not involved with the Brossarts on Thursday and neither was the Grand Forks SWAT team.
Janke says that the SWAT team was called to a location in McVille, ND, for a suicidal person who was barricaded inside of a home. It was unclear if the person was armed, but a Grand Forks Police Department dispatcher also confirmed that the SWAT team was called out.
