Cougar Spotted Near Fergus Falls For First Confirmed Time

NEAR FERGUS FALLS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - Ten days after it was spotted, the DNR has confirmed the first cougar sighting in Otter Tail County.

NEAR FERGUS FALLS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - Ten days after it was spotted, the DNR has confirmed the first cougar sighting in Otter Tail County.

The picture was taken by a trail cam near Johnson Lake, or about 10 miles northeast of Fergus Falls.

It's the first sighting confirmed by the DNR.

Officials say cougars are rare in Minnesota, but more are being spotted with more trail cams being put up and young males traveling longer distances.

Another cougar was reported in Wolf Lake and a cougar carcass was found in Pope County.
