Four UND alumni were presented with the prestigious "Sioux Award" tonight as part of the school's homecoming week celebrations.
More than 300 people attended tonight's ceremony honoring the recipients.
This year's award recipients were 1959 graduate Norm Hoffman, 1963 graduate Gary Marsden, 1957 and 1960 graduate Dr. Bob Nordlie and 1986 graduate Diane Odegard.
The Sioux Award is the highest honor presented to UND alumni who have distinguished themselves through professional achievements, participation in community service, and loyalty to UND.
Over 400 exceptional alumni have received the award since its start in 1949.
"They are highly admired by all of our alumni. And we'd like to think bringing them back on campus over the course of this week that many of our current students would see the accomplishments they've been able to occur as aspirational in their lives," UND Foundation and Alumni Association Executive Vice President and CEO Tim O'Keefe said.
"First of all, I'm humbled. Given the 419 recipients of this prestigious award, for me to be included in that group is pretty amazing," 2011 Sioux Award Recipient Gary Marsden said.
The Young Alumni Achievement Award was given to Amanda Bentow and John Kutch for their work in the community.
