FARGO – Police responding to a call about a stabbing victim who collapsed on Second Street North in downtown Fargo Saturday arrested a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of aggravated assault.

The victim, an adult male, was taken by ambulance to Sanford Medical Center with a leg wound. His name and condition weren’t known, police Sgt. Ryan Dorrheim said.

Sheralee Seitz, who like the other parties involved is believed to be homeless, was arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail, Dorrheim said.

A weapon was recovered, he added, declining to be more specific.

“A lot of the details are still unclear as far as how or what led up to the event,” he said.

A friend of the victim told police he was stabbed under the First Avenue bridge, Dorrheim said.

The friend, who identified himself only as Dennis, told a Forum reporter that Seitz stabbed the victim in the back of the calf.

“I don’t remember what it started over or why, but she stuck him,” he said.

The victim walked from under the bridge to Second Street before collapsing in the right northbound lane. A visible trail of blood ran across the Case Plaza parking lot and down the sidewalk to the street where a blood-soaked piece of the victim’s blue jeans lay, having been cut off by first responders.

A second suspect, Donny Finnegan, 21, was arrested in connection with what police believe was a separate assault, Dorrheim said. He declined to identify the victim in that incident.

At least seven squad cars responded to the scene after the initial call at 4:44 p.m. Police cordoned off an area with yellow tape and closed northbound Second Street between First and NP avenues for more than two hours.
