(WDAZ-TV) - A St. Michael, ND, man pleaded guilty and was sentenced on federal firearms and assault charges on Monday.
Levi Brandon Jerome was sentenced on separate charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
Jerome, 23, pleaded guilty to possessing a Model SKS rifle in April 2010. Jerome was previously convicted in November 2007 on two felony charges in Ramsey County District Court.
He also pleaded guilty to assault a 16-year-old male on the Spirit Lake Reservation in May of 2010. After arguing with another person, Jerome struck the juvenile who was standing nearby, requiring the juvenile to have surgery for a broken jaw.
Jerome was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison followed by three years of supervised released.
