Attorneys have agreed to postpone a preliminary hearing for an Oklahoma man accused of hiring his handyman to kill a Fargo dentist.
Gene Kirkpatrick was scheduled to appear in Fargo court Wednesday on charges he paid Michael Nakvinda to kill his son-in-law, Philip Gattuso. Nakvinda has pleaded not guilty to murder, robbery, burglary and theft charges.
A new date for Kirkpatrick's hearing has not been set. Gattuso was found in his Fargo home beaten to death with a hammer Oct. 26. Authorities say Kirkpatrick arranged the killing because he did not agree with the way his granddaughter was being raised.
