LARIMORE, ND (WDAZ-TV) - A teenager is in critical condition at Altru Hospital after he was injured in an accident Wednesday afternoon in Larimore, ND.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Kyler Renfrow, 17, was transported to Altru Hospital by ambulance with head and shoulder injuries after he pulled in front of a 2010 Mack semi and trailer just after 3:30 p.m.
Brian Thompson, 56, of Park River, ND, was driving the semi south on North Dakota Highway 19. Renfrow was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 19 and 4th St. in Larimore.
According to the patrol, Renfrow pulled in front of the semi. Thompson applied his brakes, but wasn't able to avoid Renfrow's Chrysler LeBaron, striking the vehicle on the driver's side door.
Thompson wasn't injured in the crash. Renfrow was in critical condition at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Bother drivers were wearing seat belts.
Thompson's semi had minor front bumper and grill damage.
Renfrow's vehicle was totaled.
According to an accident report, charges against Renfrow are pending.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
