DEVILS LAKE (WDAZ-TV) - Central Middle School Students paid respect to veterans on Thursday. Many students know someone who has served in the armed forces and they're glad they got to say thanks.

"Our veterans have helped us gain and keep our freedom without them there wouldn't be a country to defend today," student Veranna Bauske said.

"I am proud of my country. Even though we may be going through tough times right now, I believe we will overcome it just as we have done in the past again and again," student Warren Blanchfield said.

These students have high hopes for the future and a solid understanding of the past.

"The ultimate test for our military though was during World War I and II. Not only did we fight for America's freedom, but the entire world's freedom," Blanchfield said.

"I believe that we truly are America the beautiful. We are one nation under God and truly indivisible," Bauske said.

Lake Region Veterans were invited to the program and explained the importance of folding the flag.
